When I use Pinnacle Studio 10 to encode a video, the final video shows horizontal lines. Is this interlacing or scan lines? I wish to get rid of them. These appear encoding to an MPG II and a DivX file.
Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would use a mpeg2/dvd editor instead and you don't have recompress it all. You can use tmpgenc dvd author to import dvds directly and do basic editing(cut/join), reauthor and make a new dvd. Or if you want more advanced editing(transitions) use mpeg video wizard.

Mpeg2 and windows movie maker is not worth it because it's too buggy.

GrunbergGuestAwesome! Thanks for the response. Now - as far as the horizontal lines I'm seeing throughout the screen when Pinnacle converts the video - is that evidence of scanlines or de/interlacing? I'm confused...

And how would I go about normalizing the audio in all my clips?
