I am using WinAVI 8.0 and I am converting AVI to DVD. Before the converting the sound is perfect but when it is done I can't hear anything! This is so frustrating! What am I doing wrong?

What am I doing wrong?
Or even better: Get a DVD player that also plays DivX/XviD AVI, and don't convert at all. You could have picked one up for the same amount you paid for WinAVI.

Yes it is. Your only question was
What am I doing wrong?

What are you playing the DVD back on? If it's a computer and the audio is AC3, you may not have the proper codec installed. If it's on a set top player, then I would try a different converter program.
You should also check the file before and after conversion with Gspot 2.70 and see what audio format it is using and if there really is audio in the DVD file. Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean it's not there. Other common problems with Xvid files are MP3 VBR audio, which many programs don't handle well, or sometimes even AC3.
And welcome to our forums. -

It says that my current version can' take the 2.0 version (or something like that). Drives me crazy...
