  1. I am using WinAVI 8.0 and I am converting AVI to DVD. Before the converting the sound is perfect but when it is done I can't hear anything! This is so frustrating! What am I doing wrong?

You're using the worst tool ever sold for this task. Try free FAVC or commercial Convertx2dvd.
Or even better: Get a DVD player that also plays DivX/XviD AVI, and don't convert at all. You could have picked one up for the same amount you paid for WinAVI.

Yes it is. Your only question was
    What am I doing wrong?
and that was answered. Using the wrong tool, quite simply. (And perhaps lacking an audio codec)

What are you playing the DVD back on? If it's a computer and the audio is AC3, you may not have the proper codec installed. If it's on a set top player, then I would try a different converter program.

You should also check the file before and after conversion with Gspot 2.70 and see what audio format it is using and if there really is audio in the DVD file. Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean it's not there. Other common problems with Xvid files are MP3 VBR audio, which many programs don't handle well, or sometimes even AC3.

    And welcome to our forums.

  6. I have all the codecs, checked with GSpot. I'll just try FAVC and see what happends :P Maybe I should experiment with WinAVI some more... Anyway, thanks for the help

PS. FAVC didn't work for me :S Maybe the audio settings are wrong in WinAVI?

In what way didn't it work? And believe me: WinAVI is the utterest of all utter crap, not worth spending one single byte of not-so-precious HDD space on, let alone trying to figure out why it doesn't work as advertized.

  8. I installed FAVC and AviSynth and the required codecs but it didn't work anyway, getting tired of trying to fix a good converting program! :S I tried to download .net Framework 2.0 (I have 1.1), and I ca'nt download it. It says that my current version can' take the 2.0 version (or something like that). Drives me crazy...

Perform a search here in the forums for WinAVI and you will see what a "good converting program" it is. There are countless posts here complaining of the same problem you are reporting. There is no "fix".
