Hi, just wondering about storing my ever growing DVDR collection.
Currently I use one of the zip up book style holding 160 disk spaces,
the clear plastic and white fabric sleives are double sided.
They don't look to harm as the fabric seems soft enough, any veiws anyone?
I use Verbatim -R, and various brand -RW (need verbatim as they don't last long)
Looking at other brands I wondered who Taiyo Yuden are, have they other names in the UK?
I've never heard of them before.

Taiyo Yuden is on par with Verbatim - and is typically available at meritline, rima, or supermediastore (all .com). They've been relabeled as other brands - can't remember which, exactly.
As long as you can find Verbatim media, you should have no problems.
I started out using cases similar to what you use, and never scratched a disc. I did grow into the larger 288 count cases, and finally went to the clear sleeves with soft inserts - kept in a drawer, as I'm likely over 1,000 in that collection at the moment.;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,

Taiyo Yuden are the inventor of the CD and the leader in DVD makers as well. Most people would agree that they are the best. I use TY an Verbs exclusively, IMHO all else is crap. You can buy TY brands online at the vendors iskit mentioned. In stores they are usually under other labels, must say Made in Japan on the label or it isn't TY.

Cheers for the info.
Just got a refill of 50 verbatims from Maplins (UK) (down to £9.99 until the 25th Jan)
I used Disk Identifier on it and they're 'Taiyo Yuden' now.
Previous verbatims seem to be mostly Mitsubishi.
They now have new packaging with 2007 copyright as opposed to the older ones with 2005 copyright by barcode.
I think the cases I've got are fine, it's when you take them out the damage is done. -
Do they say Made in Japan on the cake box? I would love to find some here in Connecticut.

Don't think they say 'Made' anywhere.
It's annoying you have to buy and then test them to identify the actual maker, but anyway, I'd recommend UK folk to go to Maplins before the deal ends. PC world/Curry's had the same deal (£24.99 to £9.99) over Christmas now Maplins are doing it, but not for long. -

Hi StuR,
An online supplier in the UK you might like to try is www.svp.co.uk, they stock all the major brands, including Taiyo Yuden's own unbranded discs. They also have the Verbatims that are made in Japan by TY. They are usually well priced and quick with delivery.

Opps, since last post I did have a look and they are marked by barcode as 'Made in Japan'
and the older style are 'Made in Taiwan', hence TY and Mitsubishi.
So now I know that just a good close look by the barcode will tell me before I buy.
You can also tell as the TY box for Verbatims uses a different design where the black base is thicker
and dosn't stick out abit like the usual cake box.
Thanks for the sellers link, but I found some more Verb TY in a PCWorld near me and asked for a price match with Maplins (£9.99) and they sold me 50 for £8.50?? . So always worth asking for a pricematch in PCWorld as they may do a special discount due to the actual 'pricematch' taking too long, so they must do a managers special or something.
