  1. I'm really trying to build up my dvd collection and was looking for the cheapest way of doing so. Obviously ebay comes to mind, and occasionally they have some dvd lots that look very appealing but most have dvd's that I already own or ones that I really don't want. Buying them individually on ebay would then get expensive with shipping and take too long. So i guess what i'm asking then is are there any sites or stores that offer inexpensive dvd's and possibly offer discounts when purchasing many dvd's at a time? Any help would be much appreciated.

You can often get DVDs, even fairly new ones, for $5.99

Local non-chain movie places, pawn shops, dollar/discount stores, etc.

What's the point of "building" a collection? Buy what you want to watch. If you've got extra money burning a hole in your pocket, plenty of local charities could use some extra funding.

We have a local guy who sells used CD's/DVD's/Games . Generally about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of new disc and he guarantees they will work, they polish them and every disc looks new. He has better selection of older titles by far than you will ever find in Wal-Mart or any other chain. I amassed a huge collection of CD's fairly cheap from there and it felt good because it's all legit.

Or Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, or any other local rental place. I have bought lots of used DVDs.
They're not like VHS -- they don't wear out with repeated use. Just make sure they aren't scratched!

In that case take them to the used CD guy, they usually offer professional buffing services for a few bucks.

Truthfully, you'll get discs in cases all beat up, you can tell they have been through the ringer. The discs themselves all look brand new and I haven't had one yet that didn't play.

Places like Target often have great deals where you can get 3 movies for 10 or 20 dollars.

And there are almost weekly sales at Best Buy / Circuit City / Target where they have a selection of movies for $3.99/4.99. Just watch for the sales.

This isn't so much about how to quickly build a huge collection, but about having a collection of movies that you like and will watch repeatedly. If you don't like a movie enough to watch it several times, it isn't worth buying. And if you are one of those people that don't watch movies more than once anyway (whether you like it or not), then just join Block Buster/Netflix and rent all of your movies.

  15. Thnks for all the great reply's guys. I definately only purchase movies that I know I will watch more than once, cause really otherwise, whats the point. It looks like there is really no one place thats the best, and shopping around for sales is the way to go. Thanks again everyone.
