I am trying to make small clips from various Blu-ray movies. I am eventually going to combine them with Adobe Premiere. What is the best way to edit the m2ts video objects from the Blu-ray discs?

you usually to rip them to hdd first, decrypting them in the process => anydvd
fot cutting:
tsmuxer is free and can cut, but no video preview (cut by timecodes) , other free options with previews are avidemux 2.6 (the beta works better on transport streams) , tssniper , ; none of the free options are frame accurate (cut at nearest keyframe , but it shouldn't matter if you are importing to premiere, you usually want extra length on the ends anyway)
paid options: videoredo beta 4 (won't handle vc-1 BD's), solveigmm -
Already have AnyDVD HD. It isn't inexpensive, but I can see it is the word in getting rid of DRM. I think I will need a frame accurate version so I am looking at SolveigMM Video Splitter 3. I want each clip to be ready as is to be put into the multi video editor. Before I spend 40 euros, is there any reason Premiere wants extra length on the end?

Not premiere.... you. Have you done any editing before? You usually want a bit extra footage so you have room to time things - it gives you more flexibility . If you cut them too short you won't have enough frames for transitions etc..
I'm assuming that's what you're using the clips for? If it's going to be just a compliation end to end clips, nothing fancy, then premiere is the wrong tool for the job. It will re-encode everything. You might as well combine them in soleigmm (assuming they are all 1 type of compression, like AVC)Last edited by poisondeathray; 6th Mar 2012 at 23:53.

Yeah I meant to ask if it's actually Premiere that wants the extra length. OK so the extra length is mostly for transitions. I think I will go with SolveigMM Video Splitter 3 since the nature of my project encourages each clip to be an absolute length. Thank you for the fast response.
