  1. My friend gave me a DVD he had made of a children's performance. There is a song all the way through the performance in the background and there is a stupid graphic flower that has been added to the left side of the video. What can I use to get rid of both of these? I dont' want to ask him to redo it because I am afraid he will be offended. To each his own.

Unfortunately I'm afraid neither can be removed without ruining both audio and video.
It's not like the flower is in a separate layer or anything - it's an integral part of the image just as much as anything else you see in the picture.
The same goes for the audio - unless the music is in one channel only, which I doubt.

If he has the original audio and video without the song and flower then that is your only serious option. If the song was recorded in the background at the time then you are pretty much screwed.

a man actually put a flower on it?
simply ask for a flowerless and songless version
    and quit being wimpy

otherwise, you'll have to zoom in and lose quality
