Just need a quick pointer to what software, hopefully free, that y'all would suggest to most easily split a 2hr+ MP3 file into smaller pieces, say 10 min per chunk?
Also, is the software something that would help automate this, as I have a few files to do?
The reason I need to do this is due to a primitive MP3 player that doesn't support bookmarks, so when power is off, I lose my place in the podcast...this way, I could restart at next piece instead of beginning...ok, so I'm cheap! (I only need/use the player a few times a year so cost was a big factor)
BTW, files are just speech podcasts so quality is not an issue...
Thanks!

Yes, I know it's months since this thread was started, but just found it again, and wanted to update it with the solution that I found which worked best for me: MP3DirectCut
It allows me to load a podcast, easily mark it into 10 min chunks, and then create separate files for those chunks.
Yes, there is a missed word or two between the end of one and start of next, but given that it's a spoken podcast, this is fine with me, as I'm thus able to restart my primitive MP3 player at nearest 10min mark. Given that I only use a MP3 player about 3-4 times a year, the simple one I've got is ok, as the cost/benefit ratio is within reason.

I like 6 minute chunks because then the segment number corresponds to tenth's of an hour...I use MP3 DirectCut for audio books a lot.
