i am having problems reading some new movie so far "live free or die hard", "bourne ultimatum", "underdog", and "war". but i just read and made a backup of "heartbreak kid" "rush hour 3" "kingdom" etc. i have a lit-on lh20a1p using dvdfab newest ver. also tried dvdecryptor and anydvd. i also tried updating my firmware/drivers. tried reinstalling drivers. dvd decryptor keeps saying the device is not ready? i have no clue why they don't work when others do and people say these movies have no special protection and have copied them.
i really need some help and advice is greatly appreciated
thanks

Sounds like you drive is possibly failing. The latest DVDFab Decrypter works with all of the those movies, so the only possibility is your hardware (MB or DVDROM).

If that fails as well I would suggest putting those discs in another computer to see if they can be ripped. LITEON dvd burners are excellent readers and fast but I don't trust the burning quality which is why I only use my LITEON 18x speed drive to rip discs.
DVD DECRYPTER is no longer updated so it won't help you if you have a movie that has newer copy encryption protection on it. I've read countless problems with people who use ANY DVD along with ripping programs and some run into software conflicts. "LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD" did have some sort of copy encryption. -
Either it is your hardware failing as someone posted or as someone else said about dvd decrypter not being updated but try this, download a version of "DVD GHOST" (it's great) Download a version of elaborate bytes CLONEDVD2 (another great program) Then after you have used dvd ghost to rip the movie then use clonedvd2 to burn the files and you can use the settings they have as to keep menus,subs,ect..it should work

There numerous other posts similar to this all throughout this forum. They are all the same, "I have the new ***** movie and it won't copy correctly". Followed by a half dozen posts from other users "being helpful" and saying they have copied it.
There are two possible issues. 1) The software being used. Ensure you are using the latest version of a tool such as DVDFab Decrypter (as you initially stated) which is kept up to date to read the new encryption methods. 2) Your hardware is failing. Just because it hasn't stopped completely working, doesn't mean it isn't having issues.
The most common fix is just updating your apps. But since you appear to already be using the latest version, it is either corrupt somehow (which is unlikely since it does work on some discs) or your hardware is having issues.Google is your Friend
