Hello,
I have a Canon Elura 100.
I plan to connect a VCR to the Elura 100 and copy the analog tapes to a miniDV tape. Will this move the analog tapes to the digital format?
Will this achieve the same result as using the Elura 100's passthrough feature? I am not using the passthrough feature because I do not have enough hard drive space to store all the video.
Right now all I want to do is get the footage off the old VHS, VHS-C, and Hi8 tapes and onto miniDV tapes. Then as I have time I will capture the video off the miniDV tape.
From a quality perspective would I be better off using the passthrough feature and then copy the avi file from the computer to a miniDV for storage.
Thanks, Bill

the quality will be the same on tape or passed through, the camera only records in miniDV digital format. it will not make the video any better either, just put it in a different storage format.
