Hi there ... a new member from melbourne OZ.

I have two issues but thought I'd post both matters under this topic heading.

    1. My old wintel DVD player gave out not long ago and just refused to play anything other than pristine condition DVDs .... and with my problem now, I think I have to have it repaired given the following issues.

I bough a JMX 818A player yesterday and it played what the wintel could not but it had intermittent bright and shadow flickering (apologies if my terminologoes are all over the place) which I beleive is due to macrovision (???) How (if it's possible at all) to disable that feature as I can't find it anywhere in the menus.

The other issue I have (dunno if it's related) is that my TV is old (but has an excellent picture) with only an aerial connection and for both the old and new dvd, I have to run them thru the VCR. Is there anyway to get around that as someone's inidcated that if my new JMX ran directly to the TV, the macrovision problems wouldn't exist.

Hope someone can help .... look forward to any assistance

Cheers and Season's Compliments to all

The MV (MacroVision) issue is related to your VCR. Most will allow a signal from a DVD player to pass through (when not recording). There have only been a few older models that allowed MV to be disabled, and they are no longer available. You can try a different VCR or get an RF modulator. You should be able to get one from your local electronics store. It converts an S-video/composite video signal into an RF signal for your TV.

Thanks for that ... I did a LOT of research on this after my initial post and I think I have to get a newer TV with AV inputs (two seats if I'm lucky) and directly connect the new DVD player and the VCR ....

Ohh the price you have to pay
