Hi everyone...I am using TMPGEnc for encoding to MPEG2...but sometimes my converted video which is captured using MatoxRT2500 and recorder with my DVCPRO 3CCD camera looks bad on my HD ready 16:9 Tv(CRT), while on regular 51cm CRT TV is OK...
Then I put in my DVD player footage of my friend and it looks perfect on both TV..
So how to convert and to get best possible MPEG2 which will look the same on every TV...like that footage of my friend...
Thanks

You might drop both of those videos into a program like Gspot and see what the differences are. It may just be bitrate. Higher bitrate=higher quality=larger files=less running time on a DVD. And the opposite is true.

You mention a widescreen display. Your display may be resizing the two videos differently and causing a lower quality picture also.

Other than that, if you start with a good quality video before encoding to MPEG-2, your encoder settings determine the DVD quality.

OK, but I was encoding using 8000 CBR bitrate and I checked my captured footage...It is very good..but when converted..it shows lower quality even if I was using 8000CBR..and I did't use VBR because the footage is very smooth -no action....that is why I am thinking about changing to maybe better encoding software...

I will try 2 pas and maybe 9000 bit rate...

 Thanx
