Ok so as it says in the title. I have a file that is Mpeg-2 HDV 1080i and I want to convert it toa file that will work in Final Cut. I attempted importing it and rendering it but instead of my video, I only see a grey screen. Can someone give me a hand with this?

There are many different versions of Final Cut (4 current versions that I can see). I imagine there are also differences in the file types that they support (there are regular and HD versions for example).
The manual of FAQ should list the file types supported. If not, we need to know which version you are actually trying to use.Google is your Friend -
Try converting with this programme first HDTV to MPEG2

Your 1080i mpeg2 file may be in a non compliant format - this prog should fix it (it worked for me)
