Im putting together a video of my Bro and Sis in laws engagement party.
We took some video of the night which contains some early parts as people started to arrive, the speeches and then the inevitable drunken party and silly dances!

I get on very well with them and as such would like to make a pretty good vid for them and was just wondering if anyone could suggest any nice things they have done or seen that I could use (nice effects, transition, editing techniques, songs etc)

I wont need a menu at this stage as they get married in April and I will add this video to the wedding DVD I will make for them but we want to give them the engagement part for Christmas so I will just make it a 'put in and it plays' disc for now.

So any ideas that people can throw up would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Depends on what software you have available. Windows Movie Maker is one you can play around with and probably already have. It can output in DV format, as I suspect that is your present video format. Then you just encode that to DVD compatible MPEG-2 after editing and author and burn to DVD if you wish.

DV is a easy format to edit with. If you need more control or options, then look to some of the commercial AVI editors. I'll let others suggest them.

I have no issue with converting or editing as such I am more looking for interesting things others may have done that I might be able to use to make the DVD more interesting than just a song over the footage with some crossfades.

I am using sony vegas 7 primarily, but also have ulead vide studio 9, Premiere pro 3 and after affects at uni, and have a few of the freeware editors such as vdub.
