    Hi,

I'm trying to convert VOX to mpeg2 - I've tried ffmpegx but I get problems with progress.app (where is progress.app) and then YUV convertor crashing (both issues are in the ffmpegx forum but no resolution seems to be available). Is there another application anyone can recommend?

    Thanks.

    VOB usually is MPEG-2.
Nearly all apps that can read MPEG-2 .mpg files, can also read .vob files.
It seems you don't have to convert anything.

Maybe you could elaborate a bit on what you're trying to do here?

I'm trying to get an XBOX 360 to stread a "VOB" file from my Mac Mini running Twonky media server. The XBOX 360 does pickup the AVI's I have and I know the VOB is good as I can view it locally via VLC and is fine (well a few performance issues) being streamed to a PS3.

Essentially I'm using the mac mini as a hub and xbox 360 & ps3 as display devices.

Try VLC's Streaming/Export Wizard (File menu) to convert your VOB.

The issue with "where is progress.app" can be solved by browsing to the Application folder and selecting ffmpegx.
This did the trick for me.

As Case observed, ffmpegx doesn't seem to be required here. I'm willing to bet that simply renaming the file to .mpg from .vob will solve the problem, as pixel zombie suggested. If his streaming application balks for some reason, he could rip as a single vob, demux, then remux just the video and audio streams he wants. That ought to work.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll work through them later - starting with remaning the file...
