  1. Greetings:

I just purchase a Pany TH-50PX77U and can't not find anywhere if this TV support HDMI v1.3 or earlier. I call Pany tech support and submit my question "Does the Pany support HDMI v1.3 or YCbCr or "Deep color" and have been told that v1.3 is for the HDMI cable specification and has nothing to do with the HDMI port on the TV. Could someone please confirm if Pany's tech statement is correct?

On a seperate note, let assume that my Pany and my DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray player are HDMI v1.3. If my AV receiver has HDMI pass thru, does this mean that whatever I get out of the DVD player (upscaling, deep color etc), I will also get them on the TV?

Thank you much for your time and have a happy and healthy Holiday seasons.

The specs list for this model at Amazon.com, indicate that it is HDMI v1.3.

HDMI support varies by AVR. The only way to know for sure (if you already have the hardare) is to try it and see how it works.

  3. Note that deep color is optional in the 1.3 spec. If the TV doesn't specifically claim to support deep color -- it doesn't. The 50PX77U does claim to have a 29 million color display.

  4. Thanks a bunch for the additional info.

I've been told that the v1.3 HDMI connector is different than the earlier version.
