hi there folks got a small problem, i'm not sure how many you have heard of this product but i own a mediagate mg-35. its a external hard drive media center that holds movie files so you can play them on the tv. the issue right now is i couldn't use my handbrake program to extract a movie, so i had to use mac the ripper and then ffmpex to put it into an avi file. well it came out great but the problem is the mediagate does not support ac3 audio, so i need to change it to something else. under the audio sections i go ahead and tell the program to encode it as mp3, however in the audio track it shows :ac3 (5.1) language:en. its a jackie chan movie so you figure howthe audio works, im not sure if i should just the selection to something else as my selections are numbers 2-9 as my options

I have the mediagate device myself and a mac. I use visualhub to convert to divx (not free), but try isquint. I think you can use FFmpeg to demux the audio stream and use d-vision to convert to a mp2 stream (stereo). after that you can mux the m2v and the mp2 file as a mpg file. that way you can keep the quality of the original video source file. - good luck, garman
