    I cannot open rip files from hard drive anymore on latest powerdvd update.

    This is a known "feature" of PowerDVD. WinDVD will be the same with its current release. Because they couldn't get enough of being Hollywood's bitch already, they decided to remove the ability to play HD DVD and BluRay on PC hard drives so that people with rippers will be thwarted.

    the last version that could play files off the hard drive was 7.3.3319a, but it can't play any of the newer profile 1.1 type.
