I have been using TDA v2.1.9.90 for a while to author single layer discs and have gotten fairly comfortable with it. I'd now like to try my hand at DL discs and am wondering if any authoring apps allow you to select the layer break point. I've read other posts and guides on doing that with PGC Edit, etc., but would prefer to be able to do it during the authoring process if possible, although I know that TDA doesn't support this.

    Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Scenarist allows this, but it's not the kind of tool most consumers have due to cost. I would be very surprised if DVD Lab Pro did not allow that, but it's only a guess that it allows it.

  3. Although it's Mac only, I use DVDAfterEdit for all this Pre-mastering stuff.

    Honestly, do it with PgcEdit.

Do nothing more than set the chapter mark in the authorware.

DLP does have an option to set the break, and shows you all the available cells. However PGCEdit/Imgburn are the better options.

Thanks for your input. Don't think I'll pop for Scenarist right now, and I'm not using a Mac. I suppose I'll stick with the PCG Edit solution and see how that works out.

    Thanks again for everyone's responses.

    RABinMS,
I know that ImgBurn is not part of the authoring process and I am sure you are aware of its capabilities but thought I would mention it just in case.
It does allow several options for for layer breaks and even gives you a preview option to see where the layer break will occcur.
You could use this as a manual input into the current authoring app. These steps do add a bit more work, but, if there are no other options, here is a possibility.

    Ed.
