  1. Dear all: (I have been asked the same question several time past week but get no response. Is there just no answer to it or...):

I have a .rm movie file (100 MB), and try to convert it to .mpg or .avi (for making VCD later), using EO Video.

I followed the instructions obtained from this site but didn't work.

For converted .avi file, it has no audio at all. I tried many different setting for Audio but failed all of them.
For converted .mpeg file, it stoped at middle of the conversion process. What's the max file size it can handle?

Please tell me what I did wrong?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

  2. Windows has a 2GB limit on AVI files. TINRA works great, but the AVIs it makes tend to be HUGE. You might also need to record the audio stream seperately with TotalRecorder, or something like that, and combine them later. Nobody said converting RMs was easy. (Okay, buzzinhornets said it was easy ) If your RM is 100MB, you just might have to cut it first, and encode the parts. How long is this clip?

  3. Do you guys know that the latest version of TINRA supports compression codecs... so the .avi won't really be that big anymore TINRA 0.005

  4. Basically mate I do this method and I am sure its scoffed by loads of people here.
I have lots of Real media files as it was dead easy to capture on an older slower machine with the voices in sync.
Also living temporarilly overseas it allowed friends/relatives to send files over the net more easily.

Now I want to convert them , tried TINRA , EO etc , but the quality came out much worse , which to be fair on a Real file tends to be pretty average anyway. So you will never re create the wheel with them, only make them more universally acceptable.

Literally all i do is watch the file in a 100% window in real player (not double size or anything because that can increase the blocks) , and use Hypercam to capture the box with sound. With a 1.1 AMD I drop no frames at 29.97 and the picture is exact to the original Real file , only now as an AVI which can be spruced up in V/Dub with filters etc.
Make sure your sound settings are set to record the wav output otherwise u will not get the sound!

give it go you may be pleasantly surprised! The demo version of Hypercam leaves a logo , but I have heard of people extending the capture window size so it doesnt spoil the picture , then crop in v/dub.

    Anyway your choice!

    Best of Luck
