    hi,

i had installed a hard drive i had in my old pc into my new one, setting the old one as a secondary drive. the newer pc is a generic. Every time i am trying to access certain folders it is telling that i have to format the drive. within these folders i have some files i would like to obtain.

What is the problem? How will solve this problem?

  5. You have to "take ownership" of folder. Look in microsoft forums on how to do that.

If you have corruption in the file system, use Knoppix 5.1.1 to enter your drive and drag & drop the folders onto a flash drive, or even onto your new drive.
