  1. I have a DVD of some family video. I want to create a version that will play continuously. Will this work if I rip it as movie only (no menu) or do I need to re-author it?

Continuous play can be set up on the player it self when you load your disk or in the authoring process. Check on your authoring software. It might be possible to be done also with PGCedit or DVDremake, I think. I'm not sure. Don't hold me to that. But there is a starting point for your search.

    Good luck.
    I want to believe....

I believe that either method would work:
    - One can rip the DVD files to "movie only" (using tool like DVDShrink), then use Burning program (like Nero or ImgBurn) to burn to DVD
    - One can use a variety of authoring programs to combine the VOB files into just one video clip to play continuously
    - Or: if you can get hold of the original project file (that created the original DVD), simply edit the project (using the same authoring software) to set the video clips play continuously one after another (until MENU is selected on the remote control). My guess is that whoever created the original DVD chose the setting "going back to menu after playing each clip".

  4. Thanks for the hints. PGCedit did the trick. Here's the quick rundown:

    1. rip the DVD as movie only using dvdfabdecryptor
    2. open the DVD in PGCedit
    3. click on the title1 entry
    4. Add a "jump to title1" command in the post command area and save the new DVD
    5. Create an iso and burn with imgburn

Even this makes it sound harder than it really was.

(Sorry for any mis-spelled tool names. It's been a long day.)
