I try to convert High Def .mkv files to mpg2 with TMPGEnc Xpress 4 , to make DVDs.
The problem is when I try to watch the DVD I make to my DVD player. The movie has many "stop and go" , (I mean the frames don't play consecutively). The fact is that in my PC , the DVD plays perfect.
I have this problem only with .mkv file convertion
Does any expert has any clue?

    Thanks a lot

What DVD Authoring software are you using? Is there any stuttering/skipping of the originally converted MPEG2 file? Might not be a conversion issue but a burning issue. Try different media as well DVD-R usually works best for me instead of DVD+R.

I use Tmpgenc DVD Author 3
I notice that .mkv files play with the same problem in VLC media player but they play well in Windows Media Player.
Does anyone expert has any clue what is going wrong? Is this a codec problem?

Same thoughts here. Authoring, burning, and/or media problem. If you chose an auto fit option, TMPG might be using too high of a bitrate. Grab some RW media, and try the same file at a much lower bitrate, try for an average bitrate @ or below 6500.

VLC has issues with some h264 encodes, depending on the options chosen. VLC doesn't use nVidia's purvideo nor ATI's AVIVO, while WMP does.
