    Hello-

I am not very experienced in the art of DVD authoring. I have had the opportunity to author a couple DVD's with Pinnacle Studio 11.0 and was satisfied in that it did what I asked it to. I've noticed that there is not a lot of discussion about Studio in this forum and was wondering if there is a good reason for it.

    Thanks
    Big Dave

There is little discussion in this forum of any authoring tool which comes bundled with hardware.

That includes Pinnacle, ULead, Roxio and Nero.

I doubt your version came bundled with hardware as I think it is the most recent. Bundles usually include a cut down (Lite) version of an out of date version. I don't know about 11 but earlier versions of Pinnacle Studio were buggy, unreliable, regularly crashed your pc and seemed to make a habit of losing video/audio sync. I don't think you'll find many people on here with a good word to say about it.

I started with Pinnacle software in 1999 and struggled like hell to get any usable results. I changed to Ulead Mediastudio Pro (which doesn't come bundled) to edit and Ulead DVD Workshop to author and haven't looked back since.

Long history of unfixed problems. If free, try to use it. Don't upgrade until you try demos from the others.

    Thanks guys............

Not sure if it's kosher to add another question, but, for a newbie, what are your opinion(s) of the most sensible DVD authoring software? I'm not stupid, just inexperienced

  7. Have used Pinnacle for editing a long time ago. Like its simplicity but had several issues with its stability.

For DVD Authoring, I would recommend TMPGEnc DVD Author. Simple, effective and quick.

You haven't given a budget or feature expectation but look at ULead Movie Factory 6 for a start.

TMPGEnc DVD AUthor. Or DVD-Lab Pro if you're up for a challenge. Can do anything within the DVD specification, but doesn't hold your hand.
