using sony vegas 7d, importing avi files (xvid) and it doesnt show video only audio when i drag it into the timeline.

if i use virtual dub, i use PICVIDEO codec save to avi again, and then import that to sony vegas it shows up fine.

is there a way to not have to do this to all my xvid (avi) files? also when i use that codec, the file size is 3x larger then the original. how can i get the same quality as original and yet have it show up in vegas?

Please search and you will find that vegas and xvid is not the best solution, https://forum.videohelp.com/topic333983.html?highlight=vegas%20xvid

And this is not a dvd authoring issue, moving you.

Vegas doesn't like xvid and divx both installed on your system. If you have ffdshow, you want to completely disable one of them, in your case divx. You can re-enable it when your done editing.

Or use the codec tweak tool if your using K-lite Mega Codec pack.

    That should solve the problem.

  5. Sony Vegas 7 can't handle FourCC DX50 and XVID, also can't use Xvid codec.

Change FourCC to DIVX and use DivX VfW or ffdshow VfW.
Or change FourCC to FVFW or FFDS and use only ffdshow VfW.
