    -installed .NET 2.0
    -installed the SVCD2DVD DEMO version
    -rebooted laptop just in case
    -try to open SVCD2DVD shortcut, mouse shows busy loading something but nothing happens
    -try to execute file directly from its folder but no dice

    I previously had HDTV2DVD installed and this still opens without problems.

    Have you installed all updates to .NET? Have you tried removing and reinstalling SVCD2DVD?
