I don't know which is 'better', but I would lean toward the LG because at least you know who made the DVD burner inside the enclosure. The Memorex/Imation burner could be made by just about any burner manufacturer. But this is just my opinion as I don't have any experience with either unit.
Stand by, though. I'm sure someone here has used one of those units. -
LG makes drives, Memorex does not. This means firmware updates willprobably be slower from Memorex.
The specific LG drive you have identifies is new I can't seem to find which chipset it uses. If it is one of their Rennassas chipset models it is likely to be a superior drive, less so if it is Matsushita (Panasonic).
