The devil's in the details my man. The exact error message will probably give away what is wrong. Also use GSpot on your source file and then see https://forum.videohelp.com/topic271697.html for how to upload pics here.

I personally think dvdsanta is crap and would suggest you try divxtodvd instead.

You may find you'll get more help here if you change your subject to something more applicable ie. describe your problem
    If in doubt, Google it.

A couple of AVI to DVD freeware converters that are popular: FAVC and DVD Flick. Others in: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-dvd-converters

And 69ers, in the future please use a more descriptive subject title in your posts to allow others to search for similar topics. I will change yours this time. From our rules:
Try to choose a subject that describes your topic.
Please do not use topic subjects like Help me!!! or Problems.

  6. I have the same problem, but never did DVD's before. I'm better at VCD's than DVD. I converted an avi to mpg (mpge2 dvd compliant) but nero wouldn't take it. I tried to click and drag the file in there for DVD section. Anyways, I'm trying to get a correct answer to get that mpeg2 to dvd. Is there a step to skip authoring or that's the only way to get that mpeg2 to a dvd?

Many players will play mpeg2 files without authoring, many will not. If you want a DVD, then you have to author. If you use DVD Flick or FAVC then it will author for you. Personally, I think Nero is a poor authoring tool.

I use FAVC. DVD Flick is faster, but I prefer the quality of HCEnc over FFMpeg. Either will do what you need better than Nero will.

Burn the results with Imgburn in Build mode.

  8. Haha, I don't like all-in-one programs. Well I did convert the file myself to mpeg2, just need a program that can put it in a dvd structure. Whenever I clicked and dragged the file to Nero, it wanted a folder like a dvd structure. Can either program take my mpeg2 without re-encoding?

If you just want to burn your mpeg2 files as data, then either burn a data disc in Nero, or use Imgburn in Build mode.

If you want to create a DVD, you can use GUIForDVDAuthor author a disc, and create your video_ts folder (without re-encoding) ready for burning.

Personally, I am not a fan of all-in-one programs either, however not all files need the same time spent of them, and FAVC uses pretty much the same tools that I do anyway (HCEnc, Avisynth, Aften).
