I seem to have inadvertently managed to convert all my 5 individual VOB files in my Video TS folder to be showing the same clip. Originally they correctly contained five seperate files, one for each cahpter. They all now show the same first four chapters with my fifth chapter missing. Each time I open the folder from the DVD the same thing happens. How do I get back my original files to show 1 chapter each? Grateful for any advice.

You cant convert inadvertently VOB files in the manner you describe, so your problem lies elsewhere.

The first question is what do you have in the folder ?

VOBs file do not equate to chapters, and would only equate to episodes if you happened to author each episode into a different title and encode them to be smaller than 1000MB in size.

So the second question is - how did you author these files ?

Third questions is how are you playing them back ?

    Thanks for your reply.
Just to clarify........ clips are being played in Media Player, the files are all VOB currently named as VTS 1 to 5 but showing the WMP icon, having been configured to open in this player. I was incorrect in using the term chapter, I should have said clip of course. DVD is being played on my DVD drive having been copied on DVDRW from camera by friend. Apologies, I cannot explain how exactly the files become duplicated (the 5 clips plus the IFO files! are now showing the same clips when played in WMP) but it seems to have happened during a session of experimenting with renaming file extensions to Mpeg or during my attempts set up files to open in WMP.

Sorry if this is a bit confusing.

To give a better idea of what might of happened and to be sure that the you are just not playing the same file over and over because of duplicate IFO files you can try the following:

    1) Using Media Player Classic load each VOB one at a time and see if the same clip is being palyed
    2) If you have the original IFO files you could move the existing files to another folder and copy the original to the VTS folder and then try playing.

It is possible that all of the IFO files are pointing to the same VOB making a kind of loop.
    Everyone lies.

The innocent lie because they don't want to be blamed for something they didn't do, and the guilty lie because they don't have any other choice.
