I just replaced my ATI HD 2400 pro with a Galaxy Geforce 8400 GS graphic card, which I currently use via VGA connection to my Sony Bravia 32V2000 LCD TV. Everything is fine, however I would like to try out the DVI-HDMI connection.

I would really appreciatte your information on the following matters:

After purchasing the card, I browsed through the http://www.galaxytech.com website and I found out that there are actually two cards with that same chip:

    - Galaxy Geforce 8400 GS: http://www.galaxytech.com/Product_Details.asp?id=142
    -Galaxy Geforce 8400 GS HDMI : http://www.galaxytech.com/Product_Details.asp?id=150

Now Im slightly confused, did I get the right card for my hdmi equipped TV set?

The information written on the box of my card confused me even more: it doesnt mention "hdmi ready", "hdcp" or anything, however it does mention hd dvd playback and theres a sticker attached on it saying "w/HDTV/DVI".

Did I get some budget (or older) version which is not 100% hdmi/hdcp compliant or something?? How to identify what exactly did I bought??

    Please check the pictures below.

Thanks and excuse me for my confusing post

the card has DVI, VGA and s-video outputs. I also wonder if i can plug a 7 pin s-video dongle with component outputs to it. It will fit physicaly, but will it output component signal, it is not mentioned on the biox, dont want to spoil somehting

Big issue is HDCP compatility for future HD/BD DVD playback. For now DVI to HDMI should work. Component YPbPr to HDTV should also work.

  5. Use a DVI to HDMI cable. If your card or HDTV don't both support HDCP you may not get high res HD DVD or BD playback in the future. HDCP requires an Intel encryption/decryption chip. You might look at the board and see if it has one. Up until a year or so ago no board had the chip, even though they were sold as HDCP capable.

    thanks for ur replies.

btw another (related) problem. currently im trying out the Component connection. Im using a dongle and a component cable to connect the graphic card's 7 pin s-video output to the YPbPr inputs on my lcd tv. The picture is here (tho not very nice compared to what I get from VGA), but there is no blue color! My blue desktop looks all green now. I checked the cables, everything is properly connected, I also checked the nvidia settings and everything is fine there too. What can be the problem? I googled a little and i found some people asking about the same problem, however i was unable to find a solution so far. Thanks

Seems like a cable issue if the card is set for analog component out. Y is mostly green. You probably have a bad Pb or Pr.
