I am using Sony Vegas 6.0, and am wanting to creat quicktime MOV files for display on the web.

I was, for example, converting a 100MB video file into MOV and adjusted the dimensions to:

    320x240
    Quality: Preview 50%
    32bpp color
    NTSC
    Audio uncompressed 44,100 16b

    This creates a 1GB (!) file.

Why the perplexingly huge MOV file?

  2. Because you didn't select an appropriate compression codec or you picked a high bitrate.

Uncompressed RGB32 at 320x240, 25 fps would be about 460 MB/min. Plus audio.

There is a "video format" pull down box.
At the moment I have "None", but theres a whole list of them such as:
    Animation
    H.261
    H.264
    JPEG 2000
    PHOTOJPG
    Planar RGB
    PNG
    Sorensen
    TGA
    TIFF
    etc etc

Which one is the best (for web)?

    1) h264 (best compression vs quality ratio)

    2) Sorensen
