I personally think that centropy has the best picture quality. You can edit the hum in the sound track out. I've done it. You can do it with cooledit or sound forge (my personal choice) and a plug-in for noise reduction.

I've checked out a couple different lotr's and like I said centropy seems to have the best video quality oh and once you get rid of the annoying buzz the sound is great as well. While smr you can hear people laughing at parts which is a little annoying after the first couple of times.

  3. if your planning on downloading lord of the rings i suggest you get the 2cd divx or 4cd svcd dvd-rip. both are great quality.

SMR SUCKS!! I have only downloaded 1 good movie from them. Jay and Silent Bob. Other than that they have poor a/v quality

Oh yeh.. The best version of LoTR is the centropy version, and the TCF version from ShareReactor, which u can find on Morpheus or newsgroups. (by the way I hope that wasn't posting info on warez??? If i was tell me Ill remove it)
What the Fuc is the internet?

  5. smr is a re-encode group. the quality of their release depends on what VCD release they re-encode. since SMR will re-encode more than one copy of movies as better quality copies come out it is difficult to identify them. it could be a re-encode of the firts copy that came out with missing scenes or it could be a re-encode of the most recent SVCD copy.

regardless of what copy it is if you plan to make VCD's smr movies do not make a good source. they use an extremly low bitrate at a mere 350Kb/s and they drop the frame ratre to 20FPS eliminating alot of information from the original VCD. thats why a 1.5 gig VCD comes out as a 400 to 500 meg avi file.

    their groups website is http://www.smr-movies.com

head over to www.vcdquality.com to get info on release quality in the future.
    peace out,
