I have a movie with French and English audio.
I am playing with MPC. On one of my PC's I can select between the two.
On the other which I just built it will only play the French with no option to play the English.

MPC was installed on both pc's using the same K-Lite codec pack.

    It is a .ts file.

Any idea what the deal is?

That K-lite codec pack would be my first guess. It causes a lot of problems and damage and is not recommended. You could try uninstalling MPC and reinstalling it.

You could also install a .ts splitter/reader like hdtv pump or latest haali media splitter.

Really? I always thought it was one of the best ones What exactly is wrong with it?
I saw someone in another forum talking about the CCCP codec pack...how do you feel about this one?

What exactly are these for? To remove one of the audio tracks?

Never ever install a codec pack. It's like swatting a mosquito with a shot gun. The mosquito may croak, but your kitchen will be a mess. Trust me - I once (before I knew better) installed K-Lite. From that moment, I really never got my media playback fully back on track until I reinstalled Windows. If a particular video wont play, examine what codecs are used with GSpot. Download and install the latest version of the missing codec(s) if necessary. As far as playback goes, just ffdshow takes you a long way.

Hmm...not much love for codec packs here
Just out of curiosity what is the harm of installing them? Isn't it just like installing a bunch of codecs separately?

In the mean time I will check out gspot.

Like I said, from personal experience, it wreaked my system completely. Uninstalling the pack made no difference. Careful removal of codec by codec, assisted by codec sniper et al, finally made it possible to at least get some AVI playback back, but never back to where I was before the codec pack, until I reinstalled Windows.
Why this is so I'm not sure; probably lots of conflicts with already present codecs, bad codecs, wrong version of codecs & cetera, & cetera.
And rest assured my horror story isn't the only one.
The "install as you need it" approach gives you a system equipped with what you need, and nothing else.
If you had a Word document you'd like to read but didn't have Word installed, would you install Word Reader, or install "J-Heavy All docoment formats (and then some) ever devised by humankind reader pack"?
