mpg4 differences

I commonly use

microsofts mpg4 v1 v2 and v3
but not so much v3

and I mostly use Divx 3.11 fast and slow

does any one know what the best codec and setting is of these?
I have read that 3.11 is a improved microsoft mpg4.
anyone know what 3.11 fast is v1 v2 or v3? and how about slow?
