I am trying to burn "Scoop" to a DVD and I want it to have subtitles (optional). I can do all the things right, but when it comes to the aspect ratio the video is cut from the sides.

I am using DVDLab Pro 2, but I first change the ".avi" file to ".vob" with WinAvi Video Converter.

The movie is 16:9 (so is my TV), but the only way I can change the movie to ".vob" without cutting from the sides, is by making it 4:3 (which is not a problem for me). I then make the ".vob" files a joined file, but whatever I do (change it back to 16:9 or make it stay the same) the movie is cut from the sides and I can't watch it properly.

What should I do? Thank you for your help..

Use something else besides winavi. If you want to use one-click apps, use something like DVDFlick, ConvertX, FAVC. Then separate your VOB files into elementary streams using pgcdemux so that you can import into DVDLAB and author as 16:9.

You should be using DLP to create the VOB files. That is what it is there for. Encode the video to .mpv/.m2v, encode the audio to AC3, then author. There is no place for WinAVI in any process that uses DLP.

Thanks a lot, I think I finally know how to do it. I still have a question, though, how much doest it take to encode a 700mb movie to mpv and ac3? Because for 9 hours I am encoding, and it says that encoding will finish in 9 hours. Isn't that a pretty long time?

Encoding with what ? Tmpgenc could easily take that long. CCE might take that long if you use a stupid number of passes. HCEnc should take around 4 - 5 hours for a 2-pass VBR encode.
