Ok, here's the problem. My brother tried to download silkroad full and now i got a utorrent program on my pc. the problem is that it gets in the way with my bitcomet and when i try to open a torrent file to start the download, it puts utorrent as default and i can't switch it to bitcomet. now if i want to download using bitcomet the file must be downloaded and opened from my computer. this just wastes time and effort because my computer is not new and it has a limited space. plus it lags. the utorrent isn't found anywhere on the programs list, or anywhere when i search it. i can't change the default open thing or uninstall it (which it won't let me).

It must be somewhere on your PC. You won't find it in the Programs list because it's only 1 tiny (200kB) .exe file (utorrent.exe) & there's no uninstaller for it.
BTW you might as well remove BitComet & use utorrent, because it's much less resource consuming program.

  3. Do a windows search and you will find the folders and executables. You can then delete the files and folder.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.

You can change .torrent file association for opening in another program or simply run new torrents by dragging the file to either program window or to its shortcut. I mainly use uTorrent and do so despite on my system that file is still assotiated with Azureus (rarely used now). BTW, BitComet is now forbidden on many serious torrent sites.

Windows explorer > tools > folder options > File types TAB .

Search list for *.torrent ... when found , left click to highlight
    Then click CHANGE button .

If in new window showing available programs , dose not list the one you need , select OTHER to locate it .
Once found , double click the program , which will return you to previous window , make sure it is higlighted .
Then click OK , and Ok once more to return to windows explorer .

*.torrent will now open with selected program .

    ----

To remove the other torrent program you must know the TRUE name it gose by , not guess , otherwise you'll have a hard time locating and removing the item from the system .

You may want to look into this free program : Revo Uninstaller
    Location : http://www.revouninstaller.com/

Puts a lot together under the control of one program : http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_unisntaller_features_benefits.html

    ----

PS : The default location for the utorrent unistaller is in Program files/uTorrent/ called uninstall.exe
