    i have done lots of searching on these forums,tried some stuff,but got confused,so....
    i have a german dvd ,with no subtitles,and i wish to add english subs so i can understand it,
    how please?

    which is a link in the article Baldrick links to. You'll need to find the English subs somewhere, so do an internet search, and do note that you'll need subs with PAL timings or you will have the "fun" of changing the timings from NTSC to PAL. Such changes may or may not work very well, so it's best to find subs that already are PAL or NTSC (whichever you need) rather than trying to change one to the other.
