I recently noticed dry water like marks on some of my 100 pack maxell DVD +r 16X.
I also began experiencing successful burns but data verification errors . My pals told me that
its the burner (pioneer 111D) dying. Convinced that it was about 4-500 good burns behind it
I got a new 112D. I am using nero 7 ultra that had to be restored several times recently. The
new burner has the same malaise i.e. anywhere from 1-2 and/or about a dozen sectors not
agreeing with the source. I think I may have corruption of the the os since may small third
party add- ons ie ipod and creative software is also installed. The 111D was bulletproof til now and seems to burn successful the the first disk of a session. Is it likely that both drives are really bad? Thanks.![]()

What aedipuss said. I've had that with a few discs and they all ended up as coasters. I would sort though the blanks and toss any that show the discoloration. But I wouldn't trust any others in the package for any valuable data.

I back up a lot of kids shows and when I try to burn another disk I have these errors. However
when I burn one well and I restart windows the next complilation is OK. Is there a secondary
problem with the os This reminds me of win98 whenI burnt more that 4 separate disks the fifth
one had errors, which were remedied on reboot. I have tried several free registry fixers as way to determine if the registry has errors and each one diagnosed mutually exclusive problems (one being blunt that my system was unstable and onother one that found no problems) needless to say I avoided the fix button. Is there some guideline how to setup
a computer primarily as video editor file burner? A buddy of my said that when you first
installed the os it was fast, but 4 months later its slower, these registry fixers can only do so much, one has to do a fresh re-install. Boy I hope he's not right ?! -
there just aren't any inherent problems with winXP and burning. your install may be borked but it's not a general thing. reformat and start over if you feel that way but the advice i gave you is still the best way to go to prevent problems. imgburn is free and the best all round no matter what the price.
