I am looking for a DVD recorder/SVHS combo unit that will play DivX. I currently have a JVC HR-XVS44U and am very happy with it. But now I want the option to record DVD and play DivX while continuing to have the seemingly rare "Super VHS" feature offered in my JVC. I have done lots of searches with the keywords, SVHS, DVD, recorder, DivX.... and haven't found what I am looking for, Does it exist?

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind...

I've never seen one. Even SVHS units were rare and not highly adopted/supported, so I doubt you find one a DVD recorder, much less Divx.
At this point in the game, it's time to start looking at getting any legacy media converted into a digital format.Google is your Friend -
JVC has a great S-VHS/DVD recorder in the pro series. Several of them, actually. But I doubt it plays DIVX. DIVX is a low-end consumer-only thing, it won't be in pro equipment.
