  1. I just got a new HP Pavilion with TSST H653L burner. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully burned 8x DVD+RW with this burner? I'm asking because the only 8x DVD+RW I can find is spindles of 25 at online stores.
No 5 packs on the shelves around here to try it out. Buying a 5 pack direct from Memorex online store costs as much as a 25 spindle from one of the bulk online stores so I hate to shell out if they will only burn at 4x anyway!
I already have a pack of Imation that burns fine at 4x. It would be more fun if I could do my test burns at 8x though.

  2. Just FYI the Memorex 8x DVD+RW I ordered direct from Memorex online store will work in this burner.

The speed zones seem to be
4x up until 800 million bytes(not MB but byte count in Imgburn)
6x up until 1800 million bytes
8x the rest of the way

On a full disc burn this averages to about 6.3x

I don't know where you are but I can't find DVD+RW 8x in any store in any brand. That's why I bought it directly from Memorex. For non-erasable DVD+R I use TY or Verbatim 16x. Here I'm only talking about erasable discs.

I already had perfectly good DVD+RW 4x media. I'm talking about 8x. The Memorex shows in DVD Identifer
as Ritek media. So for about the same price you can get either 2 5 packs of the Memorex or 1 25 pack of the
Ritek. That seems to be the only DVD+RW 8x around AFAIK.
