I reinstalled Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 (including 2.0) and SVCD2DVD 2.5.2718 DEMO, but I get the same alert. After closing the alert (3 times), the software quits with a Windows message.

  2. Drive space issue?

  3. Thanks for quick answering.
I've found the culprit. It's not the drive space. For doing DVD's I'm currently using a drive with 23GB free.

As we all know, SVCD-audio-standard is MPEG-1 44.100 Hz. All my TV-records do have this audio format.
My first try with SVCD2DVD I did with standard options: AC3. This job was done. Then I changed options to leave audio as is. I didn't wont it to be re-encoded. With this option choosed I got the failure message. For me this is strange due the prog is made for burning SVCD on DVD without re-encoding. When I change to AC3 or MPEG all is running fine.

Meanwhile I'm working with SVCD2DVD 2.5.2728 DEMO. My questions:
    1. Has the registered version the same "bug"?
    2. With audio options MPEG the vob-file is 10% bigger than the mpeg. GSpot says, audio is 48.000 Hz. Is audio really re-encoded or just changed the header?

  4. 1) I would say "yes" as it is not a 'bug'.

    2) Audio is really re-encoded to DVD standard, it needs to be for some players to recognize and play it. The video is not re-encoded, but during remuxing, I believe some code (navpacks?) may be inserted to allow better playback (such as the chapters you are adding).

Space can be an issue on the source drive because that is where the de/remuxing and audio encoding take place.

I would recommend always converting audio where SVCD (or VCD) is involved, you never know what your next player may (or may not) support.

  5. It's surely well done to hold the compatibility wide open. Thanks in so far.
But for me it is a real bug, to let let me switch the options to "Keep source audio always" although a source file 44kHz lets the software quit with a common error message. It took me a while to find out the reason of the crash and shoudn't happen really.
Is there any other multiple condition for this crash?

  7. My whole log is up here in my first post. The 'AV Details' are followed by the last 4 lines:

    Processing Polar.mpg
Leaving source audio alone. (NOT IN DEMO)
15:36:50: Done: Processing assets for DVD creation
    Authoring DVD Folders

Between line 2 and 3 normally are many more lines. With "Keep source audio always" enabled the app crashes with the message in my first post and those lines are missing. Anything else?

Nope. It is a bug. It is not in the registered version however.

Thanks for the heads-up. I have updated the download with a fixed version. Let me know if it now works ok for you.

  12. Ah, was a bug. The drive space and short log threw me - thought it was a de/remuxing & space issue. Glad you guys got it sorted.

  13. The update is ok. 'Keep source audio always' is working fine now.
    I got more questions:
    1. The preview is not working. All player buttons are greyed out. When I click on the movie button in the upper left of the preview window, I get an alert. Is this the same in the registered version? The alert is:
    [/img]
    2. The settings window can't be seen completely. It is truncated on the bottom. Is this the same in the registered version?
    3. How exact is the filling meter preview (excuse my english) of the DVD? Does it show the source length of data or the final length after re-encoding - specially from 44kHz-audio to 48kHz? I'm used to fill my DVD's up to the top with a couple of movies, choosing from a big pool. Can I get the final length in numbers like in Nero?

  14. 1. The preview works fine in the registered version provided your system has the right codecs. Where are you trying to play the asset from? It needs to be in a VTS, then you need to click on the asset to enable playback.
    2. The settings window can be cut off if your font settings are larger than normal. It used to be possible to click the window and maximize it, but this no longer seems to work (ChrissyBoy?). A work around is to lower the font size, make changes, and restore your font size.
    3. My experience is that the estimation is very accurate and represents space used after any encoding (hence the 'autofit' button which is available with other than .mpg source files). Keep in mind that there are source files available that will not proccess predictably so some over/undersizing can occur from time to time. The oversizing is easily remedied with the use of DVDShrink.

  15. Back to the preview error- can you play your source file in MPC? Are you clicking the VTS button ('New Movie" icon) under "Movies" or the source file icon under "VTS Layout"?

If the asset plays in WMP it will play in S2D preview.

You can resize the settings window as required.

  17. Chris,

I also seem to be unable to change the settings window (although it is sized properly for me), and I believe maxxjulie posted about this a couple days ago. If I right click, the minimize/maximize options are grayed out and I can't "grab" the edge to drag. Maybe I'm missing something? Using 2.5.2728.

Well build 2733 is on the site now (although it isn't anounced - as i have yet to compile a change list) and i think that is what RainbowLand is using as he redownloaded.... And the settings form is now resizable:
