    Hi again
I need help to install video/audo codec for a friend's laptop.
I wonder what would be the best package taking into account that he is totally a newbie and updates will be infrequent. Ah he runs Winxp home edition
    Thank you

Do not install a codec pack. Give him VLC as a player, it does not rely on system-wide codecs. Codec packs destroy computers.

  3. KMPlayer has all the file splitters and codecs built in, like VLC. I like the player better than VLC though.

KMPlayer has one advantage over VLC, though.
That is easier and better subtitle support, if you need any.
