I need to replace my Go-Video dual VCR because it's starting not to work at all anymore. After looking and only finding DVD/VCR combo's I thought I should just get a DVD Recorder/VCR Combo with a hard drive. I have a the RCA DRC8052NC DVD Recorder & wished it had a hard drive to edit the video before burning to DVD.

Anyway can someone post some HDD/DVD Recorder/VCR Combo units I should look at and where I could get them. I see some posts about no more HDD in the USA so maybe I am just out of luck. (I hope not!)

Don't need any tuner but I really like having the HDMI out.

The main thing I will use this for is putting all my VCR tapes on DVD.

I don't know of anything that has good quality and all 3 features crammed into one unit.

  3. The Panasonic DMR-EH75V is the only one I have seen in a store. Circuit City has them.

  4. Well surely you know this but I'll mention it anyway.

Some of the older Go Video daul VCRs did not bother with Macrovision protections and you could copy from comercail tape to tape, or like a friend of mine from comercail tape to DVD recorder etc...

Most stuff today will not do that, which you probably knew. So a VCR/DVD recorder combo will not copy your comercail tapes though it will do home made tapes perhaps.

So if you want to backup/convert store bought VHS movies you probably want seperate units and install a filter type device between them.

  5. Hi folks,

I am in the same boat as PA555 ... so ...

@ Overloaded ... I like your suggestion ... so could you spell out your last paragraph ... like 1, 2, 3 ... get this item and put it in line and use this software to do ... kinda dummy-proof short step-by-step ...

    Thanks,
    G
