I just got a X2 4200+ AMD and I'm getting slow speeds in CCE 2.67. I'm not encoding any HDTV, just avi's. My speeds are around 2.7-2.9. I seen some people with a 3800+ getting 5.56.

My scripts are not using any filters. I checked the script in vdubmod and it's showing 24fps.

This is a new build running XP Pro SP2 with 1 gig of ddr 500 ram and all the latest drivers and patches. Any idea as to why my speeds are so slow?

Are you using MT with AVISynth? What are your CPU usages showing? Does CCE 2.67 even support multiple threads?

  5. My guess is that he's not using both cores. Yes, CCE can utilize both cores. Also, the people that get those kinds of speeds are usually (always?) overclocked.

Not using MT. CPU usage is at 100% for both cores. 2.67 supports 2 cores.

Both cores are being used, no overclocking...11x200 default settings.

Are you using CCE's built-in resizer ? Have you tried resizing in avisynth first ? I have not used CCE built-in resizer, but avisynth may well be faster.

Are you using CCE to encode the audio ? I generally get faster speeds than you, but only encode video with CCE.

I'm not using CCE's resizer. And I'm only encoding video. That's why I'm so confused with the speed...There's no apparent bottle-necks, I've run every stress test and benchmark and it passes with flying colors. I appreciate all the suggestions and here's the Avs script:

    AviSource("E:\Video\Project 4.avi", false)
    ConvertToYUY2()
    Lanczos4Resize(720,480)

Probably not much help, but it would be faster to resize before changing colourspaces.

I'm not familiar with speed comparisons with other machines, or XVID encoding for that matter, but perhaps it's a codec issue, and not CCE?
I would try finding XVID variants that decompress faster than others..Or see within AviSynth itself, wheter there's a line that optimizes decompression...

    Just a guess..

This may not even help, but did you create a new avi with uncompressed audio? Try doing it in Virtualdub if you haven't.

Personally, i've always served CCE fake audio with the AddAudio() function..
With that in mind, audio has always been encoded separately outside of CCE..

    Does CCE utilize 4-cores ?
