    I capture a video

    i add the title

    I combine all of it

I then mpg convert using tempeg

I then view it the title is ok

However when I burn it using adaptec easy Cd creator platinum

and then play it back on my DVD player (apex)

the left and right side of full width text lines get chopped off

What can I do to prevent this from happening?

  2. What can you do to fix this? Don't make your titles with text all the way to the edges.

Add at least 16 pixel borders to the TV overscan area.

    How do I do it?

    through tmpegenc?

Or in my title creation program

16 pixels all around or to the left and right only?

So I take it, the borders then will be cut off leaving the text intact?

Thanks in anticipation of your clarification

  5. I think you could correct this in whatever program you used to add the titles in the first place. Hopefully, it centers the text automatically thus allowing you to type freely leaving some free space along the edges. And yes, it is best to leave a "safety zone" all the way around the edges. Also keep in mind that overscan varies from TV to TV. What may look good on your TV may have chopped of text when viewed on another TV. So, while a 16 pixel border is a good rule of thumb, the more space the better.

I tested my old crappy TV. When I play a SVCD (480x576), it displays exactly 432Xxxx (I did not test vertical res). That means 24 pixel overscan @ svcd resolution = 36 pixel overscan @ dvd res and 18 pixel @ vcd res. That is more than I expected.
