Call Pioneer. They will know how to reset it.

If all else fails unplug it overnight so it resets itself when next plugged in. They are designed to hold settings several hours through power failures.

BTW: If you connect your TV up via component (RCA) jacks, you might be able to view the menu.

I've had one earlier Pioneer that did the same thing via pressing the wrong button on the remote, as well as a cheapo Colby: I've always been able to change connections and restore the defaults.

    Resetting the player
Use this procedure to reset all the player’s
    settings to the factory default.
1 Switch the player into standby.
2 Using the front panel buttons, hold
    down the

    (stop) button and press

STANDBY/ON to switch the player back
    on.
All the player’s settings are now reset.

    hi classfour,
just wanted to let u know you were spot on, once i bought the component RGB cables and plugged them in, i could access the menu on the tv screen thru the DVD player menu button

Also as you said you can reset to fault setting by pushing "STANDBY POWER" and"FAST REWIND" at the same time which is what the menu said when it was showing up before and also on the page 14 you mentioned.

So a huge thank you to you for solving this for me, even when i took it back to the shop today, the alll the salesmen had no idea and had never seen this happen before.
it wasnt untill we plugged in the CMP cable that we could see the menu again.

Do you know why this is, because it looks like a software bug to me, but im no expert thats for sure.

Once again thank you very much

    cheers kev
