I have a DVd that will play on my PC and my cheapy £20 player from Asda(when selecting DTS 5.1 Audio)
However my sony will not play any audio.
I think its due to the DTS audio as stated it plays on cheap player only when DTS 5.1 is selected so im presuming this if where the problem lies.

Im really not sure what im rading through the specs as i think my Sony has DTS(i have tied enabling it but still no sound)

Can someone help me out please?

    Many Thanks

The last article you listed says:

DTS digital output is supported by this DVD player, but as mentioned previously, you need to enable this in the player's set-up menu, as it is disabled by default.

Have you not gone through the set-up menu? This article also says:

Oddly, the default setting for DTS output from this DVD player is OFF, which may cause some consternation for some users until they find this option in the setup menu.

Go into your set-up menu and you should be able to fix this.

And you have the digital (optical or coaxial) output connected to an AVR that supports DTS?

Most likely, the other player isn't playing the DTS track, it's playing the stereo track. Especially not across scart to the TV. To actually be able to hear/use the DTS track, you need a DTS capable AVR (audio/video receiver). You then connect the digital output (optical or coaxial) from the dvd player to the AVR. Of course the AVR is then connected to your 5.1 or higher speakers. If you don't have a DTS capable AVR and surround sound speakers, then you don't need to worry about DTS (or DD 5.1).
