    Hi,

I have a little problem with authoring NTSC projects. After I have converted AVI to DVD files using
DVD2SVCD, I use DVD-Lab Pro for authoring. I have a movie with 23.976 fps (internally 29.97) with length 1:56:49. After the conversion with DVD2SVCD, the multiplexed file has the same length, but after I author the video, it goes a bit shorter: From 1:56:49 to 1:56:42. Its not a very long time, and it doesn't cut anything off, it just shrinks it a bit. I calculated, that the speed increases 0.001001% (the same difference that is between 29.97 fps and 30 fps). That difference is not visible for human eye, but it seems to me, that the audio is little bit noisy (cracky). I tried other authoring tools too, they didn't shrink the video, but with others I couldn't add subtitles. Is DVD-Lab Pro overriding a movie with 29.97 fps to 30 fps? Please Help!

    Thank you for answering,
    JPS

Is DVD-Lab Pro overriding a movie with 29.97 fps to 30 fps
    No.

What are you using to measure the length before and after ?
Is this the length of the video or the audio ?
Do all programs (e.g. g-spot, virtualdubmpeg2, DLP) give the same lengths before and after ?
How are you encoding the audio ?

    Thanks for answering so fast!
Before encoding I opened an AVI file with VLC Media Player, after authoring I used also VLC Media Player. The length I was talking about is the length of movie (both the video and audio). "Before" all programs show the same length, "After" the only program i have for watching DVDs (VLC Media Player) shows the same length. My DVD-Standalone-Player also shows the same length. I tried rewriting GOP Timecode with DVD-Lab Pro. Then in the project menu it shows the correct length, but after authoring is the same problem again. I don't encode audio, I use the audio extracted by DVD2SVCD. The audio alone should be ok. The problem comes after authoring with DVD-Lab Pro.

If the audio is AC3, run it through AC3fix before using it in DLP

Like I said, the audio itself is ok, the problem comes after authoring [when the movie (both the video and audio) have been shrunk]. Other authoring tools doesn't shrink the movie, but also they aren't so good than DVD-Lab Pro and I can't add subtitles with them. According to this I think that the problem is in DVD-Lab Pro. Should I change some settings in DVD-Lab Pro or something. Like I mentioned in my first post, video and audio are both fine after encoding with DVD2SVCD. Anyone who knows how to solve this problem please give me advice.

    Thank you,

This problem is nothing new to DLP Pro. It was discussed couple of times on there forum and everybody came to conclusion that it is annoying but no problem. Has to do with the way DLP calculates the time. I also have this every time I do project in DLP. Final product is OK.
I would not use DLP to shrink the file, it was really not made for it.
    I use DVDRebuilder for that.

I got an answer to my problem. When it can't be solved I wont worry about it. And by the way, I didn't use DVD-Lab Pro for shrinking movie. I just wanted to say that it makes movie shorter. English isn't my native language. I just expressed myself wrong.

Thank you all for help again,
