What's the best method to create a high quality FLV from a mpeg-2 source or wmv? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I've tried doing it with On2 VP6 in After Effects with a bitrate of 1000 but it's still not up to the quality I would like.

What resolution/frame size are you using?
Give us more information about your source, is it interlaced? what resolution/frame size? etc?

I use flash professional and get goody quality.

The resolution is 664x550 source is deinterlaced. these are some fast motion trailers so I need them to be as smooth as possible and as high quality as possible.

  4. If 1000 kbps isn't enough, go higher. Bigger frames, higher frame rates, more detail, brighter pictures, more action, smoke, fog, fire, white-water, noise, anything that causes large areas to change from frame to frame, all require higher bitrates.

Depending on the server software (I think), you can distribute flash using h264/AVC. It would take some work, but it's do-able:

  7. Doesn't Adobe recommend using .mp4 instead of .flv now for h.264?
