I'm building a budget PC and was wondering if this off-brand memory is worth it.

That's a good deal but I've never heard of that brand, "IPSG".
I'd suggest getting a better known brand like Kingston or Crucial from Newegg.com for the same price.

    Kingston, $39.99

    Crucial, $40.99

I believe IPSG is a 'house' brand from Microcenter. The majority of memory IC's themselves are made by large, well known companies. The cheaper brands of the modules differ mostly in the quality of the PC boards, the quality control and the amount of testing done after manufacturer. On the good side, they do have a lifetime warranty, but I would agree with budz to go with a better known manufacturer.

Thank you both for the input. I appreciate it. In your opinion, do you think it's better to stick to this slightly slower RAM than the 800mhz stuff? I've read 667mhz is a bit more compatible w/ MB's out of the box. Whether this is true or not, I do not know. It's been 5+ years since I last built a system.

  5. Here is the IPSG web site.

I have purchased other IPSG memory products from Microcenter without any problems. The return /exchange policy is good. Microcenter does a lot of business with bulk pack products like SD memory or flash drives where the product does not come in any packaging unlike more expensive brands that are blister packed.
