G'day from Australia.
At the moment I'm trying to find a FAST free software that will convert WMV to MPEG1 for me.
Sadly however I'm on a slow computer. It operates on Win98 (First Edition) and it's RAM is only 94MB.
I downloaded SUPER but that will only run on Win98 SE or anything faster (with more RAM).
I have TMPGEnc, but that takes about 2hrs to convert a 4 min clip that's only 7MBs big!
When I try and play a WMV file in Media Player or DxPlayer - it's very very slow... stutters and only shows select frames and the audio is way behind.
Is there ANYTHING I can do?
Cheers...

Yes. Buy a new computer. Seriously, you should put all video editing/conversion thoughts aside, until you've got better hardware (and OS).
TMPGEnc isn't the fastest encoder, but let's say the fastest is twice as fast, you're still looking at like 30 hours conversion time for a full movie.

The problem here is your computer.
I have videocards with more onboard ram than your computer. Your computer is inadequate for the task you are attempting to undertake and will result in nothing but frustration.
Sorry Mats, just noticed you were here before me. What he said.
